Biography

SILVIA CHEDID, DDS, MS, PhD in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of São Paulo – Brazil and Orthodontics in Roth/William Center – USA/CHILE..

A leading specialist in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontist in Brazil and Latin America, graduated in 1984, and established the ‘Chedid’s Protocol for prevention of Malocclusion in Babies’ in São Paulo city, since 2013. The practice is dedicated exclusively to managing the oral health needs from the first thousand days of life.

Dr. Chedid began her research in academic life looking for alternatives for the use of sucrose for dental caries prevention and deepened her studies on the effect of fluoride on the enamel of primary teeth. She developed a toothpaste specifically for babies and a dispenser device specially designed to dispense the proper amount of fluoridated toothpaste to be used for babies’ oral hygiene.

She has published several articles along these lines of research and today is deepening her knowledge in monitoring craniofacial development since pregnancy. She wrote four books on this topic. All these books are in the second edition and translated into Spanish and English.

Dr. Chedid is now a professor of specialization courses in Pediatric Dentistry with an emphasis on babies at the São Leopoldo Mandique University and the University Of Dental Surgeons in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.

She is a national and international speaker, invited for lectures in Universities, Congresses, Webinars and Podcasts all over Brazil, Latin America and Europe. She is recognized for her method of working in monitoring craniofacial development since pregnancy and for the preventive interventions methods for preventing malocclusion in babies. .

Dr. Chedid has been keenly involved in continuing dental education and for more than 40 years, has been inspiring Pediatric Dentists and Health Care Professionals from different areas of baby management to change the way they look and act to promote oral health since pregnancy.
