Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation: Mastering Materials & Clinical Decisions
In this lecture, Dr. Giedrė Ūzė will present a comprehensive and clinically focused overview of modern strategies and material selection for the management of Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH). Participants will deepen their knowledge of evidence-based diagnostic principles, structured treatment planning and precise clinical implementation—enabling them to achieve predictable, minimally invasive and aesthetically successful outcomes with confidence. The lecture will emphasise the importance of thorough clinical assessment and lesion-specific planning, including the diagnostic value of transillumination in determining the depth of the lesion.
Particular emphasis will be placed on minimally invasive interventions, with a focus on resin infiltration and glass ionomer restorations as key techniques for managing MIH lesions. The lecture will provide practical guidance on their indications, advantages, and step-by-step clinical application in everyday practice. In addition, attention will be given to teeth whitening—especially the use of customised bleaching trays—as a complementary approach to further enhance the aesthetics of MIH-affected teeth.
